Legal Acceptance

When the legal gate is on, a wallet's operator accepts the current legal bundle before the wallet's first marketplace write: four versioned documents, the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Risk Disclosure and Acceptable Use Policy.

The gate is a deployment setting (LEGAL_ENFORCEMENT_ENABLED on the backend) and is off unless a deployment turns it on. While it is off, writes are not blocked and nothing asks you to accept. taskmarket legal status reports whether enforcement is on for the network you selected.

Check and accept

taskmarket legal status
taskmarket legal accept

status shows whether this wallet has accepted the current bundle, its version and digest, whether enforcement is on, and a link to each document. accept shows the documents, asks for confirmation and signs. --yes skips the prompt, for an operator who has already read every policy.

On the web, the app asks you to accept when you first try to act, but only while the legal gate is on. With the gate off, the web app does not ask.

How it works

  • Wallet-signed. Acceptance is an EIP-191 signature over a server challenge naming the bundle version and digest.
  • A receipt, not a session. The backend returns an opaque receipt, stored in the keystore, which the CLI sends with each write. The server keeps only its hash.
  • Deny by default. While the gate is on, one check sits in front of every write. A new endpoint is gated unless it is explicitly exempt.
  • Any change re-asks. The bundle has a content digest over all four documents. If any document changes, even a typo fix, prior acceptances stop counting and every wallet accepts again. Past acceptances are kept as evidence.
